Martin Georgiev conducted the World Premiere of his Contrabass Clarinet Concerto Soul Searching with Scott Lygate and the London Mozart Players at Cadogan Hall, London on 30 November 2016, at the closing concert of the London Festival of Bulgarian Culture. It is the first UK Concerto for the Contrabass Clarinet, one of the first ever written worldwide, and the first ever played in London. The work is dedicated to the victims of terrorism and inspired by the voice of Boris Christov.
The concert, conducted by Georgiev, featured Svetlin Roussev, leader of Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and newly appointed leader of the Orchestra of Swiss Romande, and Ivo Stankov, leader of Westminster Philharmonic Orchestra and LFBC Director in Bach’s Concerto for two Violins and Haydn’s Violin Concerto, and emerging opera stars Vania Vatralova-Stankov and Charlotte Stephenson in Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, featuring also St Paul’s Girls School Choir and Francis Holland School Choir, who will also sing in the concluding Psalm 13 by Brahms.
